Michigan Shooting | Uber Driver Accused of Killing 6

KALAMAZOO — Stoic, cooperative and conversational: That's how police describe Jason Dalton's demeanor when they say the Uber driver admitted killing six people and wounding two others in a Saturday-night shooting spree here. But they still have no idea what why the 45-year-old married father of two might have fired at least 30 rounds across three crime scenes Saturday night from a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, shooting victims ranging from 14 to 74 years old.

"We're not any closer to motive than we were the day of the incident," Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas said Monday after Dalton's arraignment on six murder charges and 10 other felony counts. "He's had no (prior) police contact for any reason under the sun. By all accounts, he's an average guy, with a family, and leading an average life."That family went public Monday, condemning the alleged actions and offering their condolences for the victims and their families in a statement to the Free Press.

"This type of violence has no place in our society, and we express our love and support for everyone involved. We intend to cooperate in every way that we can to help determine why and how this occurred," according to the statement, which said the family is in "shock and disbelief" and "devastated and saddened" for those affected.
His eyes nearly invisible behind his glasses' frames, Jason Dalton sat motionless Monday afternoon when arraigned on the charges connected to the shooting spree, which officials say occurred while he continued to take Uber fares.

U.S. Department of Justice suing Ferguson

WASHINGTON — The Department of Justice filed a civil rights lawsuit against Ferguson, Mo., on Wednesday, less than a day after the city rejected an agreement to overhaul its beleaguered criminal justice system and address allegations of widespread abuses by its police department.“Their decision leaves us no further choice,” Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch said at a news conference announcing the suit.

The federal and local authorities had spent months negotiating a settlement that would have prohibited police officers from making arrests without probable cause, installed a federal monitor and barred officers from using stun guns as punishment. But after city officials raised concerns about the cost of the settlement, the Ferguson City Council voted, 6 to 0, on Tuesday night to change the terms — knowing that the Department of Justice had promised to respond with a lawsuit.

The lawsuit came one day after the Ferguson City Council voted to change a proposed consent decree to reform the police and courts. The council said the package, which had been negotiated between the DOJ and city officials, cost too much.
In a news conference, Lynch said the DOJ was sensitive to the city's cost concerns throughout the months-long negotiation. She also said, "There is no price for constitutional policing."
Lynch was adamant that the council's move to amend the agreement constituted a rejection.
"A few weeks ago, the Department of Justice and Ferguson's own negotiators came to an agreement that was both fair and cost-effective — and that would provide all the residents of Ferguson the constitutional and effective policing and court practices guaranteed to all Americans. As agreed, it was presented to the Ferguson City Council for approval or rejection. And last night, the city council rejected the consent decree approved by their own negotiators. Their decision leaves us no further choice."

BMX Champion Dave Mirra Dies At 41

Dave Mirra, the BMX champ and former host of MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge, has died of an apparent suicide, police in Greenville North Carolina said in a statement. He was 41 years old.
Mirra won 24 X Games medals — the most ever for any competitor until skateboarder Bob Burnquist passed him in 2013. He nabbed the first of his 14 gold medals in 1996 and his final one in 2005. Mirra’s success as a biker led to a BMX videogame series, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX. He also raced for Subaru’s rally car racing team.

Mirra was born in New York on April 4, 1974. His career began in 1992 and was almost ended a year later, when he was hit by a drunk driver, according to his website. But he still was able to compete in the inaugural X Games in 1995.
That same year, he followed in his brother’s footsteps and moved south to Greenville, which eventually became a hotbed for bikers, earning the nickname “Pro-Town, USA” for its high concentration of BMX pros living there.
“We mourn the loss today of a great friend and wonderful human being who touched the lives of so many around the world with his gift,” Greenville Mayor Allen Thomas said in a statement. “He called Greenville, North Carolina home and was as humble a guy talking with kids on a street corner about bikes as he was in his element on the world stage. A young life with so much to offer was taken too soon.”

In 2004 and 2005, Mirra hosted two seasons of MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge series: The ChallengeThe Inferno and The Inferno II. His hosting successor was fellow biker and friend T.J. Lavin, who on Thursday shared an Instagram photo of himself, Mirra, and two other friends, paired with the caption “Really love you guys.”
Mirra is survived by his wife, Lauren, and two children.
Greenville Police are investigating Mirra’s death. Police Chief Mark Holtzman and Mayor Thomas will address the media Friday, at 9 a.m. ET at GPD headquarters.

Obama slams anti-Islam rhetoric during first visit to US mosque

President Barack Obama made his first visit to a US mosque on Wednesday, in an effort to allay the fears of Americans accustomed to pop-culture portrayals of Muslims as terrorists, and to reassure Muslim American youth about their place in the nation.
Obama, declaring that attacks on Islam were an attack on all religions, decried the “inexcusable political rhetoric” against Muslims from Donald Trump and other Republican presidential candidates.

We have to understand that an attack on one faith is an attack on all our faiths,” he said at the mosque outside of Baltimore, which he said had received threats twice in the past year. “When any religious group is targeted, we all have a responsibility to speak up.”

Trump, the Republican front-runner, called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States after authorities described a California couple who killed 14 people last December as radicalized Muslims inspired by Islamic State militants.
Obama’s visit was aimed at showing Americans another side of Islam. Before he spoke, Cub Scouts who attend a school run by the mosque carried the American and Maryland state flags into the prayer hall, a plain room save for a three rows of window panes, 99 in all, each depicting one of the names of Allah in Arabic.

“Think of your own church or synagogue or temple, and a mosque like this will be very familiar,” said Obama, who, following Islamic custom, took off his shoes to enter the hall. The children led the audience, with some men in prayer caps and most women in head scarves, in the Pledge of Allegiance. A man and a woman recited a verse from the Koran about tolerance and inclusion.
Obama, a Christian, outlined the tenets of Islam, and gave a brief history of Muslims in America. He noted that founding father Thomas Jefferson specifically mentioned Muslims when he spoke about the American right to freedom of religion.

Dallas County Patient Gets Zika Virus From Sex

Harris County Health officials making changes after a new case of the Zika virus in Dallas County was found to be transmitted by sexual intercourse.

According the Dallas County Health Department, the patient was infected with the virus after having sexual contact with an ill individual who returned from a country where Zika virus is present. No other information was released about the transmission.

"Now that we know Zika virus can be transmitted through sex, this increases our awareness campaign in educating the public about protecting themselves and others," said Zachary Thompson, DCHHS director. "Next to abstinence, condoms are the best prevention method against any sexually-transmitted infections."

"I thought that was a really big gap in the warning, so that's why I talked about it myself," said Dr. Noreen Khan-Mayberry, a toxicologist who predicted the Zika virus would be eventually spread via sex. "The virus become systemic. It gets in to the blood stream and it gets into all bodily fluids so semen is a bodily fluid."

The CDC reported two other cases of Zika spread through sexual contact. One was in 2008 and the other was in 2013.

The Harris County Health department will now ask all new patients who test positive for Zika to abstain from having unprotected sex.

"For some period of time, we are going to ask them to use precautions, yes," said Dr. Dr Umair Shah with the Harris County Health Department.

The most common symptoms of Zika virus are fever, rash, joint pain and conjunctivitis (red eyes). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting several days to a week.

  • About 1 in 5 people infected with Zika virus become ill (i.e., develop Zika).

  • The most common symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain, or conjunctivitis (red eyes). Other common symptoms include muscle pain and headache. The incubation period (the time from exposure to symptoms) for Zika virus disease is not known, but is likely to be a few days to a week.

  • The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting for several days to a week.

  • Zika virus usually remains in the blood of an infected person for a few days but it can be found longer in some people.

  • Severe disease requiring hospitalization is uncommon.

  • Deaths are rare.

Top Secret Emails Reportedly Found On Clinton's Private Server.

In an exclusive report published Friday, Fox News’ Catherine Herridge quotes an unnamed source who says some of the material would be “too damaging” to release in any form. This assessment was backed up by a second, unnamed source.
The heat surrounding the Clinton probe has risen recently as a series of reports by Herridge have indicated the FBI investigation is proceeding along two parallel tracks, one involving the spread of highly classified information on an unclassified email server and the other involving possible public corruption tied to the Clinton Foundation.

On the first track, the FBI is reportedly focusing in on possible “gross negligence.” A former law enforcement official tells Herridge, “The documents alone in and of themselves set forth a set of compelling, articulable facts that statutes relating to espionage have been violated.”
Recently, the Inspector General for the Intelligence Community revealed, in a letter sent to Congress, that dozens of classified emails were found on Clinton’s server–including some at the “Special Access Program” level, considered to be a step above “top secret.” At least one email contained “HCS-O” information derived from human intelligence sources. The leak of such information is considered especially dangerous since it could lead to the identification of a source.
Contrary to claims made last year by the State Department and the Clinton campaign, this highly classified information did not originate from parallel intelligence sourcing. A letter sent by the IC Inspector General to Congress included written affirmations from at least one Intelligence Agency showing how the agency determined the information came from their sources and not from a parallel source or a public document such as a newspaper report about a classified program.
Former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey wrote a piece for the Wall Street Journalarguing Clinton had enough knowledge of how the system worked to support a conviction for mishandling classified information or gross negligence.
The State Department is set to release about 1,000 Clinton emails Friday evening but will miss the deadline for another 7,000 or so remaining emails. Last week the State Department asked a judge for a month-long extension to finish the job. The agency blamed the delay on an “oversight” which meant about 7,000 emails were not sent to outside agencies for consultation when they should have been.

Hymn For The Weekend (Official video)

Coldplay debuted the music video for “Hymn for the Weekend,” the second single off A Head Full of Dreams.
Featuring Chris Martin and Beyoncé, who adds vocals to the track, the video features the band in the streets of Mumbai. Martin sings atop buildings and sits in a movie theater while Queen Bey plays the angelic star.

The video — shot on location in India’s most populous city — comes just over a week before Coldplay takes the stage for the halftime show at Super Bowl 50.Rumors have circulated that Beyoncé will join the group for the show. “There are always guests,” show director Hamish Hamilton told EW. “I don’t see why this show would be different.”

The band announced a seven-date North American tour in support of A Head Full of Dreams Thursday, kicking off at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium July 16. Before coming to the U.S., Martin and Co. will stop in Latin America and Europe beginning with two shows in Buenos Aires, Argentina on March 31 and April 1.
There’s been no word yet on whether or not Beyoncé will stop by any dates on the tour, but you can see Bey do her thing with Coldplay in the “Hymn for the Weekend” video, above.

Cool 3D Trick Art - Bullet Hole in Hand

How to draw a bullet hole in hand. Cool 3D trick art optical illusion

Shark 3D is a 3D software and engine developed by Spinor for creating and running interactive virtual 3D worlds. It is used for video games, films, animated series, broadcasting graphics, and 3D industry applications.
Shark 3D is mainly used for developing video games (similar to a Game engine), producing films and TV series, creating broadcast graphics, and developing 3D applications.

Animations are created by "playing" a scene as in video games within a simulated virtual world. This is different to software like Autodesk 3ds Max or Autodesk Maya where you create animations mainly by hand-animating all individual movements.
By recording different characters and objects in different tracks, the animator can create a full scene in multiple iterations. For example, the animator can first play one virtual actor, and then play another while replaying the first one. Recording is physics based, so that a character or vehicle controlled live can physically interact with previously recorded characters and objects.

Winter Storm Jonas: NASA supercomputer model shows flow of 2016 blizzard

Winter Storm Jonas is expected to unleash blizzard conditions and a dump of two feet of snow through the mid-Atlantic United States this weekend, and NASA has produced an excellent video using satellite data that shows its path so far and its projected motion through the weekend.
In the 32-second video above, the NASA GEOS-5 atmospheric data assimilation system follows the storm as it develops, beginning Tuesday as it begins its trek across the U.S. and continuing with modeled images that reveal what to expect when it churns up the East Coast and out to sea.

According to NASA, here's how the video of the Winter Storm Jonas track was created:
The near-real-time operational GEOS-5 system ingests more than 5 million observations every six hours producing comprehensive analyses and forecasts of the atmosphere each day at 25-km global resolution. This experimental product uses the global mesoscale capabilities of GEOS-5 to downscale the operational product to 6-km global resolution. Subsequent forecasts are launched with this product providing a detailed view of the developing storm and its predicted evolution across the region.

The simulated field visualized here is outgoing longwave radiation (OLR). Clouds block longwave radiation that is emitted from the Earth's surface producing cold OLR values in regions of thick/deep cloudiness. Thus, OLR provides a satellite-eye view of clouds from storm systems around the globe, including the developing blizzard across the eastern United States.
The actual effects of Winter Storm Jonas remain to be seen. For example, it's already snowing in Washington, D.C., which is under a blizzard warning until Sunday morning.

The Original Material Girl Is Back

“Sarah Palin is such a pro, she knows that the audience wants to hear her greatest hits” – Stephen Colbert
The poster girl of rabid, anti-intellectual, incoherent American politics is Sarah Palin, whose son Track allegedly punched his girlfriend in the eye, kicked her in the knee and then held an AR-15 assault rifle near his head, the 22-year-old woman told police who responded to the incident just after 10 p.m. Monday.

Palin says Track has post-traumatic stress disorder, which she pinned the blame squarely on President Obama saying POTUS had made his situation worse by allegedly disrespecting veterans.
Track was arrested Monday night in Alaska. “An investigation revealed Track Palin had committed a domestic violence assault on a female, interfered with her ability to report a crime of domestic violence and possessed a firearm while intoxicated,” Wasilla police press statement said.he blame game went from Mama Grizzly bear’s child rearin’ skills to POTUS. “They come back wondering if there is that respect for what their fellow soldiers and airmen and every other member of the military have given so sacrificially to this country, and that starts at the top,” she said in a pep rally for GOP leader Donald J. Trump.

“It’s a shame that our military personnel even have to question, have to wonder if they’re respected anymore. It starts from the top. The question, though, it comes from the top, the question, though, that comes from our own president where they have to look at him and wonder, ‘Do you know what we go through? Do you know what we’re trying to do to secure America and to secure the freedoms that have been bequeathed us?’”
“So when my own son is going through what he goes through coming back, I can certainly relate with other families who kind of feel these ramifications of some PTSD and some of the woundedness that our soldiers do return with, and it makes me realize more than ever, it is now or never for the sake of America’s finest that we’ll have that commander in chief who will respect them and honor them,” she added.

What It Feels Like To Lose My Hair

Hair loss – something that affects men and very few women, right?
While it’s true that more men do experience hair loss, especially as they age, the condition is becoming a more common issue among women too - in fact, new research commissioned by Trichologist Philip Kingsley found that 1 in 5 of UK women over 25 currently suffers from hair loss or hair thinning.
Noticeably thinning hair or losing it altogether can be a particularly traumatic and depressing experience for women.

He comments: “The percentage of women with hair thinning (reduced volume) is much larger than is commonly thought as many suffer in silence. Sadly, a third of those suffering said that they haven’t done anything to address the problem, perhaps as they feel too embarrassed to seek help.
"These results show that hair loss and thinning in women is a real problem - we are all familiar with male hair loss and thinning as it’s more visible, but the study shows that a significant proportion of women suffer from it too. Of course, adverse changes in hormones affect the hair, but crash dieting, processed foods, increased day-to-day stress and certain oral contraceptive pills are also factors that play a role.

“Hair loss is extremely complicated and the unfortunate aspect is that the person is not aware of reduced volume (thinner hair) until they have lost 15% of volume, which means it started long before they noticed it. Some do not seek help early enough or from true hair and scalp experts to solve the problem successfully.”
As the number of women experiencing hair loss continues to rise, more and more hair care research is being dedicated to discovering the factors that can contribute towards it.
